average temperature interpolation

The purpose of this project is to use interpolation techniques within ArcGIS in order to estimate data ranges for the unaccounted areas between weather stations in the state of California. Below we have two maps depicting the same interpolation technique for two separate months which reflect different seasons; January depicts winter while August depicts fall. With this information we can compare the contrast in temperature fluctuations throughout the year. The interpolation technique used is referred to as Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW). Below we have a tabular list of the warmest and coolest cities with respect to each month. Click on each map to expand.
